encounters ist die erste Solo Ausstellung in Berlin von kate hers, Koreanisch-Amerikanische Künstlerin, die in ihren interdisziplinären Arbeiten Transnationalismus, Landschaftsmalerei und Orientalismus untersucht. kate hers erforscht das spirituelle und philosophische Streben nach dem Unbekannten. Allegorie, romantische Landschaften und Kitsch sind Bestandteile der Dekonstruktion einer Vorstellung des "Anderen", der Entlarvung von Orientalismus und der Faszination des "Ostens" als eine humoristische Perversion.

encounters is the first solo exhibition of kate hers, a Korean-American visual artist whose interdisciplinary works investigate transnationalism, landscape painting, and Orientalism. kate hers explores the spiritual and philosophical quest to discover the unknown. Allegory, romanticized landscape, and kitsch are employed in her work to dismantle notions of the "Other", revealing Orientalism and the fascination with the "East" as humorous persversions.
